Okay - Big Whoop - We Made It! For those of you who were
stuck in a bomb shelter when the big ball dropped, or if the media frenzied
you a bit too much, we've kept our original information available below. Another little Y2K tip (from a friend or ours) Here is something I bet you hadn't thought would be an issue for Y2K. Some, if not most, VCR's won't be able to use the programmed advanced recording feature. Do not throw away your VCR in the year 2000. Set the year to 1972, because the calendar days of the week and month will be the same as the year 2000. Pass this info on to your friends with VCR's...I doubt the VCR manufacturers will share this with the public.
Y2K Downloads Despite the fact that Macs don't really have anything to worry about, it doesn't mean that we have to feel left out. Here are a few Y2K relevant files (they are in Stuffit compressed format, so they should automatically decompress after you've downloaded them - if you haven't changed the settings on your browser): Y2KCDŸ.sit - 91K - a freeware countdown clock BlackWatch 1.4.sit - 86K - a freeware screensaver which includes a Y2K countdown clock Y2K Software Audit PPC.sit - 583K - a shareware program to check Mac applications for Y2K readiness (Power Mac version) Y2K
Software Audit 68K.sit - 551K - a shareware program to check Mac applications
for Y2K readiness (68K version)
